After the age of 40, the cartilage tissue in the ears begins to harden. As the hardened cartilage tissue will be more difficult to shape, the sooner the scoop ear surgery is performed after the age of 6, the better. Surgery is performed under local or general anesthesia. The average lasts 1.5-2 hours. The back of the ear is made to remain hidden in the fold area.
The angle of the auricle with the head is narrowed using stitches. Again, the outer ear fold is formed with sutures. There will be a badage that puts light pressure on your head and ears for 3 days after surgery. This bandage is removed and the tennis band is used for 2 weeks.
